Teagan & Tevon | Jasper Park Lodge Wedding | Jasper National Park

Teagan’s initial enquiry to me stated that it was important to her to hire a wedding photographer who was local to the Jasper area as she wanted to support someone who knows and loves the beauty of Jasper the way that she does. There are so many reasons why I agree with her for wanting to hire locally, especially in a small town like Jasper, but instead of boring you with all of the reasons why I think it’s important to hire local, I’ll show you through a series of photos taken during our short time together.

The plan was to meet Teagan in her room at Jasper Park Lodge for some final touches of her getting ready with her mom & MOH before the ceremony. If you’ve ever been a part of a wedding before, you know that things don’t always go according to plan. Luckily we discussed beforehand where she was getting her hair and make-up done and I headed on over to meet her and we began our day together. My good friend and fellow photographer Lada helped to capture a few moments of Tevon getting ready at his hotel while I spent the morning with girls.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, the moments leading up to the ceremony are always my favourite. The anticipation, the nerves, the excitement and emotion, they are all expressed during these fleeting moments.

Teagan & Tevon decided to do a first look before their ceremony and WOW was it ever beautiful. The look on Tevon’s face when his bride turned around for him to see for the first time was priceless, I believe his exact words were “DAAAMMNNNNNNNN!”

Ceremony time! Have I ever mentioned that I cry at every ceremony? EVERY SINGLE ONE! It’s so beautiful to witness two souls declaring their love and dedication towards one another without holding back. The subtle hand squeezes, constant eye contact and the urge to kiss before being pronounced an officially married couple is too much for me to contain. Teagan & Tevon’s ceremony was FULL of smiles, love, laughter, and photo bombs by Canadian Geese! Any time an animal makes an appearance in one of my sessions I always look up the symbolism. Often times my stomach is in knots waiting for the search results to populate as I don’t want it to say something along the lines of, “destined for doom!” I’m often left with such feelings of comfort when I do find out what it means though, for example the geese in Tevon & Teagan’s wedding which …

“In Native American traditions, geese have varying associations. They are a treasured source of food and are often connected with prosperity and abundance. In addition, stories connect geese with wisdom, gullibility, marriage, and parenthood.”

Keep an eye out for the geese appearances in their ceremony below.

After the formal events of the day were over, we ventured off for some fun portraits of the newlyweds. We explored the shores of the Athabasca River where the MOH really started to show her true intensions of the day hahaha!
